課程目標

The purpose of this course is to help students develop English-Chinese translation competence. Students will learn to do translation-oriented text analysis that will enable them to justify their translational decisions. Students will gain insights into the differences and similarities between Chinese and English and become familiar with the translation strategies available to professional translators. A variety of topics related to translation studies in general will also be introduced, including translation of different genres, multimedia translation, and sight translation. In addition to doing translation exercises, students need to complete a translation project (C-to-E) of their choice to demonstrate their ability to apply translation skills and their understanding of the theoretical principles learned in class.

第11週	04/30	Midterm Exam：請於4/16晚間9:00前上傳至「作業區」 (1) 請自編號1-14分段中選擇一段（每一編號含兩小段）譯為英文，並參照本學期討論過的中英語言對比、翻譯技巧、策略後，仔細閱讀並比較自己譯文和參考譯文。 (2) 在「Comparison & findings」一欄先說明自己如何分析文本（翻譯綱要分析），並紀錄觀察到的自譯和參考譯文異同處，並呼應課堂上學的理論與原則，提出心得。 (3) 「Comparison & findings」每篇不得少於中文200字或英文300字。 ============================================================================Translating Resumes and Autobiographies
